Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services (PC) Standards

PC.02.01.01 The organization provides care, treatment, and services for each patient.
- EP10 Identifying patients for blood or blood component transfusion
PC.03.01.01 The organization plans operative or other high-risk procedures, including those that require the administration of moderate or deep sedation or anesthesia.
- EP2 Sufficient number of qualified personnel
- EP6 Needed equipment
PC.03.01.03 The organization provides the patient with care before initiating operative or other high-risk procedures, including those that require the administration of moderate or deep sedation or anesthesia.
PC.03.01.05 The organization monitors the patient during operative or other high-risk procedures and/or during the administration of moderate or deep sedation or anesthesia.
- EP1 Intraoperative monitoring
PC.03.01.07 The organization provides care to the patient after operative or other high-risk procedures and/or the administration of moderate or deep sedation or anesthesia.

Element of Performance

Develop a policy based on nationally recognized standards and guidelines and applicable laws to identify patients who require a medical history and physical examination before surgery. Include the time frame for the history and physical to be completed and patient-specific factors, including age, diagnosis, type and number of procedures scheduled for the same dated, comordities, and planned anesthesia.
